Visions

Apologies for my long absence life keeps getting in the way, heres the next fluff installment from the tale

Clouds danced about the darkness, blocking what little there was to see from view. The battlefield was strewn with bodies, spent ammunition, burnt out vehicle wreckage and other souvenirs collected upon the fields of war. Walking forward Tor picked his way through the debris, he had seen many battles fought before, during the aftermath of the great tragedy that had struck the imperium, many times had he fought craven beasts, filthy xenos and creatures the likes of which would corrupt a man’s soul. This field however was different. From all indications he could determine that this fight had been one of great importance, given the sheer volume of materials that had been thrown at it, he laughed in his mind. Materials. He scoffed, I sound more like that blasted Hald each and everyday. What made this field different was the feel of it, the very air he breathed was charged with energy, a powerful energy the likes of which he had not sensed since his trials prior to being brought into the fold of the Space wolves.

Walking further the energy grew in it’s presence. Whole patches of earth were pits of ooze, men lying dead on the floor bore injuries like none Tor had ever witnessed, mutations, bodily implosions, even some strands of lightning danced from corpse to corpse. Tor’s grip on his staff tightened, edging further forward. He stumbled briefly, gathering himself he looked at what he had caught himself on. At his foot was a space marine, that much he could tell, but the markings and words etched upon the armour, remained a mystery to him. The silver armour, tarnished by dried blood and ichor for marine and tryanids alike, was unusual even as Tor reached out to touch it there was a sensation pushing at Tor’s hand stopping him from getting any closer.
Looking up once more Tor began to make out a green light shining in the sky. It slowly grew in intensity, till Tor stood before a gaping chasm in the ground, the green light pouring from the hole before him, he walked closer towards it, only to pause at the sensation of something grabbing at his ankle.
“Don’t do it, you’ll doom us all.” Tor turned to see a silver armoured marine stretched grabbing Tor’s ankle with his right hand. The marine’s helmetless head was a feature of contorsions , a combination of pain, anger and something almost approaching fear. Tor kicked the marine’s hand aside, walking to the edge of the hole looking down into it. He reached out a hand into the light, and turned just in time to avoid a halberd thrown at the space where his chest had occupied previously.
“ Fool.” He hissed, unleashing bolts of lightning at the marine, for several seconds the marine jerked uncontrollably, before lying still once more. Turning back to the hole Tor perred once more into it’s depths, before leaning forwards and accepting the light’s embrace.
“Tor? Tor?” Tor opened his eyes to see Ferrus stood before him, “Have you gleaned anything from your divining of the runes brother?” Tor gruffly muttered under his breath.
“Yes, the necrons are digging for something. They seek to use it against us and the imperium.”
“Very well, then we shall be sure to stop them from seizing their prize.” Ferrus turned and walked towards the gathered Thunderwolves and their riders. Tor meanwhile returned to his runes, examining each one in turn, glancing about he then pulled a blue shard from a pouch on his belt, holding it up to his cybernetic eye.
“Yes and then I shall be able to visit my vengance upon you, Stormwolf.” The laughter echoed in Tor’s mind, placing the shard back in his pouch, he walked away over to the long fangs. As he did so a figure stepped back into the shadows, watching Tor closely, but keeping his distance for now.
